It can also be a useful approach for voice mail (and even written documents such as e-mail). A 30-secone PAR statement helps your audience understand why they are listening to you and what's in it for them to do so (WIIFM). Following is an example of a PAR — Purpose-Action-Result — statement: Purpose: In the next hour, I'd like to share with you the six most important aspects of effective written communication. Action: What I'd like you to do is consider how well you already execute these principles in your own writing. Result: If you implement the strategies I outline this afternoon, you will save time, gain productivity, increase your confidence, and write more effective documents to your customers and colleagues. |
